I’ve been an avid genealogist for many years now. It’s something I enjoy and something one can get addicted to. You Genealogists out there know what I am talking about.
You meet people at reunions, conferences, workshops, meetings, etc. where you bump into a possible surname connection of your line. Well, let’s just find that scrap of paper and jot that name and contact information down. I can hear you rummaging in purse, bag or briefcase now. I’ve been there and done that. Then days, weeks, months or even years later you find a bit of information that might connect with something your “brief encounter” person mentioned. What did I do with that scrap of paper? Again, been there and done that. Here’s a solution to the problem. It is working for me.
Surname Cards™
Sharing these “collectible” Surname Cards™ are great “ice breakers” when meeting a new Genealogy Researcher.
You can also lose those ugly scraps of paper you’ve stored in your files for years. What a great concept!
First, I did some minor photo restoration
There were some dark spots on her dress, hand and face that I removed. His trousers were lightened up as well as the background cleaned up.
I also added their names along with her maiden name.
I can see collecting and exchanging these cards as a fun activity aside from being a very easy way to remember and connect. The reverse side of the card has contact information as well as 4 Surnames of my maternal line. Since I have designed and made these cards, I include this blog's URL.
If you are interested in having Surname Card™ made with 4 of your Ancestor line names, please see my Etsy shop for an Introductory Offer. I also provide the Surname Card™ Holder and Archival Storage Pages. What a great Holiday gift for the special genealogist in your family (the one who is doing all the work that you will enjoy at a later date).
